A selfie is a photograph, taken by yourself, of yourself with a smartphone. Selfies are usually meant for social media and temporary. A self portrait is a portrait that should last long. Self portraits should be of value and should hold specific. Selfies, without people knowing it, could be really offensive and rude.
When you take a really good selfie some people can take it offensively like " He /she is doing this and i'm at home doing nothing." On the other hand, when people see a self portrait they dont get the same vibes because they know that somebody spent a whole lot of time and effort on the piece which makes it more valuable.
