Merger photo preview
1. A problem that could occur while taking these photos could be spacing yourself evenly. In order to make it more eye appealing and better.
2. a nice spot to take one of these shots would be the baseball fields with the batting cages in the background.
3. Something creative that you could do in this shoot would be to pose or do something with your bod to make it eye appealing.
4. You could wear something that goes with the background or something with different letters in each pic (to spell something out)

THE WINNING PORTFOLIO
1. The judges noticed that the photographer was really creative when he was shooting these pictures.
2. The strengths that i noticed was the detail and as well as the creativity of the pictures. The only "weakness" that i would've put was the confusion of the swimming pool picture
RECAP VIDEO
They go through all of the portfolios and spot the strengths and weaknesses.
PART 2
1. One photo that i agree on that the judges liked was the rugby one from the first video. i liked it because it showed a lot of action (which was the prompt). The best part from that picture was the finger-in-the-eye part.
2. One photo that i disagree on is the photo that came in third in the second video. The background of this one (the soccer pic) is just bad. It has a car in the back and i think the 4th picture is a little better than this one.

my opinions story
Some of AISD’s rules/policies are
kind of unnecessary but this one by far is the most unnecessary of them all.
The rules that I’m referring to is the phone jail or phone In bin rule. I know
that some teacher s don’t do this
(thankfully) but the teachers that do this don’t know how important phones are.
In my opinion,
phones are the most important idea I keep on me at all times. So to take
someone’s phone away for the whole class period is just unnecessary.
You need your phone for so many things and I would need it on me,
especially at school. In case of
emergency i need my phone either in my pocket or in my backpack. Just imagine
if something bad happens and I don’t have my phone on me. For example, if the
school becomes under lock-down and I don’t have time to get my phone in the
“phone jail” then the situation is going
to go on longer than it’s suppose to.
You will need your phone for important phone calls, some online assignments and even
for some music concentration. If you
don’t have your phone for easy access in this moment then you’re screwed. I don’t think that some of the teacher
understand how Vidal your phone is in your everyday life; especially in todays
society.
You will also need your phones for it’s resources and capabilities that
it has already set on the phone. What I mean by this Is you can use the
calculator or flashlight or something. Usually when you have to do work in your
math or science class it would be helpful to have a calculator on your side.
Especially if you need it for some science work just because they don’t always
carry calculators in their classrooms.
Teachers/AISD staff say that we could get off task and pull out our
phones during class. They mention that students are tempted to take out their
phones and get on social media, which is true.
I understand that it is really tempting to get out your phone and stop
doing some boring work, but it’s a fire hazard.
We all need our phones just in case of worst case scenario.
A solution to this problem is quite simple and easy. Just do the same
thing that every other teacher does, let us keep them. We as 9th
grade freshman know our boundaries of pass and failure. We know that if we stay
on our phones all class we’ll fail, and it’ll be our fault.
In conclusion, having our phones on us is detrimental in order for us to
survive, especially in todays society. Please don’t make us put our phones in
bin/jails it’s outdated and inhumane.

Perosnal Essays
1. Make the readers connect to the story directly. You need to make the readers go " Ah yes!" or "I've never done that but i can relate to the author directly!" whenever you can make the reader connect thats when you know that you've written a good opinion piece. Or another good way to tell that you've written a good opinion story piece is when you sway the readers opinion. You could make them change their mind about the topic and make them argue your point.
2. Make sure that the reader can connect to the story because it emphasizes the effect it has on people.
3. a a question
b a quotation
c a metaphor
These are some good examples of what you need to have in order to have a good story.

final exam preview asignment
1. I read/learned how to correctly use imovie on the mac. These websites gave you some pointers and some step by step help for completing this project. They also taught me how to edit and place everything down.
In order to show the whole movie you have to put everything in order like a slideshow . First though you have to take all of the pictures on your camera then import them on the i movie application. You then put these photos on the app and start to put these pictures in order.
2. I knew that you had to somehow someway import the photos from your camera to the application but i didn't know how.
3. I didn't know how to do everything like place the slides/ photos in order.
4. I'm concerned on what i'm going to do for the project. I just hope the final project is something that i'm happy with.
5. I'm confident that i can complete some of the photos.
6. I would probably do a before and after type of deal. Like something that needs work before i did it then after i did it.

hard News practice( Huntington story & Earthquake story)
)Huntington story
Janice Jones was apparently shot by his dog on Wednesday, April 2nd when his dog accidentally stepped on his gun. His dog turned out to be malnourished and he didnt even have the authority to have a gun.
Jonas got rushed directly to the hospital when he was shot in the leg and when they examined the dog that supposedly shot him they saw that the dog wasnt in the best shape. The dog even had some cigarette burns on the top of its head and was not getting enough food. The animal control even started to inspect the place of the scene and they could see that the dog wanted some of the food that Jonas was eating. They started to put it together and realized that the dog got hungry, described from the shape of the dog, and all the dog wanted was the pork chop that Jonas had.
¨ I saw the whole thing happen before my eyes, Farmer Joe Buck said. He was eating his pork chop in this gas station right here and then his dog was looking at his the whole time. Then i heard a big bang and i thought he shot his dog but then i saw him holding his knee. I got up to check what had happened and next hing i know he is screaming at me to call the ambulance.¨
Jonas was rushed to Huntington beach hospital in CA and sent to the emergency room. He made a full recovery.
Earthquake Story
On Wednesday, April 2nd an earthquake rocked San Francisco Bay area. This was a huge shock for all of the people effected and of course did some damage.
There were multiple injuries and some people even died. The earthquake was really deadly and could have done even more damage that it already did. Firemen were called immediately but unfortunately werent in time to save 2 people which didnt make it. The earthquake had a huge impact on everybody in San Francisco as people from the North and Southsides of the city got hit with it.
“I was eating my breakfast when the room started rolling. I dove under the table just as I heard an explosion outside and a chunk of cement flew through my kitchen window. That’s when the screaming start across the street.”
Three of the six people injured had to seek immediate hospital attention. These people are considered fortunate because they couldve died. Earthquakes are common in this part of North America because of the San Andreas vault. When earthquakes happen they usually have to do something with the movement of underground tectonic plates. When they transform shift it usually creates these sort of huge earthquakes.
¨I woke up to massive shaking and the gut curling screams of my neighbors, journalist Matthew Stacy said. This shaking and screams made me think the worst. Then my stomach dropped when i realized that my house was under danger. when i finally came to reality i got out of my house and headed straight to safety, wherever that is.¨
Thank god that anybody else died but of course our thoughts go out to the people that lost one of their family members today

Student of the Month Story
On Thursday James Bowie HS had announced their student of the month. The student of the month is an award that James Bowie HS hold for the students that go above and beyond. Being student of the month is usually a huge accomplishment that very few students will be able to achieve.
"Winning student of the month was unintentional but is a huge accomplishment for me and my family," winner of the award Ray Gray said. " At first, my goals were to make top 10% of my class and of course to have a fun high school experience, thats when i got the envelope in the mail"
Being student of the month you have a lot of pressure on your shoulders. The student of the month award is a super rare award that you could only get for being the best student in the school.
"Time management is the key towards success for winning this award," Ray Gray said
Only few schools hold this award which is why it is such an accomplishment to get it. When asked what motivated her Ray Gray said, "Good grades and feeling proud of herself"
She said that her parents were very proud and believed in her throughout the whole school year. Ray said that she wasn't that surprised when she won the prize because she said that finally all of the work paid off. When you win this award is when you realize that all of the work paid off.
"My parents feel really proud and i feel really accomplished about myself," Ray Gray said.
In order to win this award you have to have a good GPA. However, this is easier said than done. You had to be top of your class and really studious. " My GPA is a 4.4 and it was well deserved," Ray Gray said. Being the student of the month doesn't just mean you have good grades. Being student of the month means doing stuff outside of school and extracurricular activities. Ray Gray is no different she said that she does community service and other stuff for her clubs.
" I do a lot of community services and i'm in a lot of social clubs."
Ray Gray is just one of many more students to win this prize. The more you try your best and accomplish your goals the higher your chances are to win the prize.

sensory overload
1. I think that this statement is correct because as humans and technology evolve we are focussed more on technology instead of the environment around us.
2. i think that if you took your camera to this place then you could get really creative with it and come back with some really nice, colorful pictures.
3. If your parents were the owner of this place then you would be able to experience something that not a lot of kids get to experience. I feel as it would be a good time to experience.

3. If your parents were the owner of this place then you would be able to experience something that not a lot of kids get to experience. I feel as it would be a good time to experience.

Dispatch issue #4
The first story on page 12 was the story about the play "Mary Poppins". It was a good story and it was about the behind the scenes and what it took to get this play to perfection. It mainly focused on the roles of the main characters especially the role of Mary Poppins. Madeline Sparkes was the main character in this play, aka the person that played Mary Poppins Everybody was saying that she really brought the play to life and made it entertaining.
The main person that was quoted in this story was Madeline Sparkes, Mary Poppins.
" [Mary Poppins] has magical powers and it amazes the kids and she leaves once she recognizes that they do not need her anymore"
The lead sentence was decent and it could make some people read for more but not me.
The story on page 6 is about how movies have changed in this generation. From in the 80's old corny movies to now where we have CGI and better graphics. In modern technology we let computers and electronics do all of our work as apposed to back the when we only had a film camera and costumes. The writer of this story is trying to compare our society through movies. He gets quotes about people who think that there is a lot of changing being done.
There were a lot of different teachers and former students quoted in this story.
"now there's just so much pressure i think for people to get their college credit and do this and do that and people cram all night long; i didn't do any of that."
The story on page 14 is about how apple, 900 billion company, scammed older iphone users into thinking that the only reason for slowing down their phones was because of the fact that the lithium-ion battery wasn;'t going to last too long. The writer puts his claim in the story and supports it with other people quoting. He said that his idea was so simple that even a high school student could think of it so there is no way that a company that big couldn't come up with it. Anybody could think of his idea so he is saying that they are bsing their customers to make them buy the newer versions of iphones.
There were a lot of students that helped the writer support his claim that apple was scamming its customers.
"Apple's main goal here isn't to fix the battery life of their phones, but rather to direct its customers towards buying the newest greatest phones they release."

PHOTOGRAPHY
( On page 7 the photos with a person lying dead) In this picture i see some nice lighting choices. The photographer used a nice mix between the f stop, shutter speed and ISO. She found the right choices and it really shows in her picture. I see some nice balance in this photo which is what brings the photo to life. The main subject is the person lying dead in the play.
